Halloween Guidelines
Halloween is approaching, and parents should discuss their dress choices for Thursday, October 31, with students. Below are the rules that we have shared with students to review with your child.
- Students may wear costumes on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
- Costumes should maintain the educational environment and allow students to participate in class fully.
- Students must be recognizable to staff members. Any hoods, full face masks, or hats that would make it difficult to recognize the student are not allowed.
- Face or body paint of any kind is not allowed at any time at Wood Oaks.
- Any student wearing a costume must fully prepare before arriving at school. Spray cans and hair coloring will NOT be allowed at school.
- Weapons - toy (or real) weapons are NOT allowed.
- Group costumes are discouraged when they promote the exclusion of other students.
- If a staff member or administration determines a costume to disrupt the school environment, a possible safety hazard, or inappropriate, the student will be asked to change into extra clothes or be picked up from school for the day if extra clothes are unavailable.
- Parents are encouraged to supervise their child’s costume choice – keeping in mind that, ultimately, Wood Oaks serves as a place of learning, safety, and appropriateness.
