Bike Safety
With the start of warmer weather this past week, we saw many students riding their bicycles to school. It was gratifying to see so many students observing the law and practicing proper safety by wearing helmets. As a reminder, the Village of Northbrook has updated its local regulations for bicycles, e-bikes, e-scooters, and other motor-driven vehicles to align with Illinois State Law and clarify where and how these devices may be used. Under the updated rules, e-bike operators must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driver’s license, and e-scooter operators must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. E-motorcycles are prohibited.
To help residents understand these updates, the Village has created a flyer outlining each vehicle category and the applicable rules. Please review this information to help keep our students and the entire community safe.
