The Pulsera Project

Wood Oaks Spanish II Accelerated Spanish students will be hosting a “pulsera” sale as part of their “In the Community” unit. The Pulsera Project is a Fair Trade nonprofit organization that supports over 200 artisans in Guatemala through the sale of their beautiful, handwoven bracelets (“pulseras” in Spanish) & “bolsitas” (purses) in schools across the U.S. Funds raised through this project will support Central American artisans. At the end of the project, Wood Oaks students will have the opportunity to Zoom with one of the artisans.  Sales will take place from Monday, April 27, to Friday, May 1st during lunch periods.  Each $5 pulsera and $15 bolsita sold will help create fair trade jobs, support communities in Nicaragua and Guatemala, and fund programs that improve the lives of hundreds of Central Americans.  You can pre-purchase any number of pulseras or bolsitas via this cashless payment portal.  Students can redeem pre-purchased pulseras with the receipt you’ll receive after your purchase, or with cash during the sale. Thank you so much, and we hope you’ll consider supporting the Pulsera Project!
