Wood Oaks Newsletter: GBN Transition Information & PT Conferences
Open Gym Saturday!
Shabonee and Wood Oaks will be open for basketball for students and community members from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the remaining Saturdays:
- January 11, 2025
- January 25, 2025
- February 8, 2025 (Shabonee only)
- February 22, 2025
- March 8, 2025
The gyms are for basketball only. All students in grades K-5 must be accompanied by an adult. Students in grades K-5 and their parents should use the gym at Shabonee. Students in grades 6-8 should use the large gym at Wood Oaks located on the west side of the building. High school students and adult community members should use the small gym at Wood Oaks located on the north side of the building. All participants must be picked up by 12 p.m. Those attending must sign in and out.
Attention all 8th grade parents - Diplomas & Gowns!
It is time to order your 8th grader’s diploma and gown. Please complete this form to let us know how tall your 8th grade is for their gown and the name you would like printed on their diploma. The form needs to be completed by January 24. If we do not have this information, we will use the legal name found in Infinite Campus. Graduates do not have caps, they will be given a gown and a ribbon for graduation. Graduation will be on May 29 at 6:00 PM at the Center for Performing Arts at Glenbrook North.
Glenbrook North Class of 2029 - Important Dates!
On Tuesday of this coming week, a Glenbrook North Counselor will be coming to Wood Oaks to visit students at the end of the day to give them a brief overview of life at GBN and the class registration process. This is a student-only presentation.
Parents and students should plan on attending the Curriculum Night on Thursday, January 16 at GBN. This event will begin at 6:30 PM and is for all incoming class of 2029 students.
Please look for the email from GBN on Friday which will have course recommendations. If you have questions or would like your child in a different level of class, please read the email carefully and contact the Instructional Supervisor for further help if needed. All that information will be part of the email from GBN.
Finally, there will be the final webinar on January 21 from GBN at 6 PM. This last webinar, titled “Navigating Course Requirements,” will help the class of 2029 utilize the course planner within SchoolLinks to plan for the 25-26 school year.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parents and guardians will receive an email in the morning on January 21 with their credentials to register for Parent-Teacher conferences through our online portal, Meet the Teacher. Please watch for this email. If you do not receive the email, please contact our office staff. Registration for conferences will open on January 21 at 9 AM and will remain open until February 7th, at 4 PM. All Wood Oaks conferences are held online through Meet the Teacher. Conferences will be held on Wednesday & Thursday, February 12 & 13.
