Emergency Test Message from Superintendent, Dr. Kroeze (Only Posting)
Starting at approximately 6:00 pm on Monday, September 16th, we will send out an emergency test message to all District 27 parents and staff. This system is used to notify parents and staff regarding school closings, weather delays, and other emergency situations. Notifications are automatically sent via voice mail and email to phone numbers and email addresses currently on file with the District.
If parents or staff members do not receive a call or email, they should contact the main office of the school where their children attend.
Parent/Teacher Conferences (First Posting)
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences are a wonderful opportunity to meet with all of your child’s teachers and hear some first-hand information on how your child is doing while here at Wood Oaks. Our teachers are excited at the opportunity to speak with all of you and collaborate with you on how to best work together to place your child on a road to success. These conferences will be held on October 16 and 17 this year. On Wednesday, October 16, conferences will be held from 5:00 – 8:15 pm after a normal school day. There will be no school on Thursday, October 17 to accommodate these important conversations. Conferences on that second day will be from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and then from 5:00 – 8:15 pm. You will receive an email on September 26 explaining how to go online and register for these conferences. If you do not receive this email, please contact the Wood Oaks Main Office at 847.272.1900. Online registration will open at 9 am on October 2 and close at 4 pm on October 11.
School Picture Day (First Posting)
Picture order forms will go home with students in the middle of next week. Picture Day is on Wednesday, September 25. These photos will be used for the yearbook, too, so even if you do not wish to order pictures, your child will still sit for the photograph. Pictures can be ordered online (that code is on the order form) or by filling out the form and including a payment by check. If you use the paper form, that is to be brought in on picture day and handed directly to the photographer. Please do not send it in early.
Bike Riders (Second Posting)
For this early portion of the year while we are still enjoying nice weather, there are a large number of students who are riding their bikes to school every day. I’d like to take this opportunity to ask parents to review some safe biking tips with their students.
· All bicycle riders should wear a helmet at all times while riding their bikes. This is not only an important safety item, but a village ordinance that, if violated, could result in a fine.
· Riders should only cross streets in marked crosswalks and should dismount from their bikes while crossing.
· Most bikes are built for a single rider. Riders should not be carrying a passenger on their bike while they are riding it.
· Bike riders should walk their bikes while on Wood Oaks property.
