Welcome to the Wood Oaks Newsletter.  This is my primary means of disseminating information to families, so please check back often.  I generally update this page once a week, usually on Fridays, but will occasionally put out a mid-week issue if there is information to share that cannot wait for the weekend.  To subscribe to this newsletter, click on the orange bell below, click on the newsletter, and fill out the pop-up form.

Influencer Nation (Only Posting)

Due to COVID, we were unable to produce our usual spring musical this year.  Fortunately, we have a creative director who was able to put together a wonderful Plan B for our students.  Wood Oaks is proud to present “Influencer Nation,” a satirical look at social media in a talk show format.  The play is pre-recorded and will be available to view for the 24-hour period of May 27.  If you would like to view this wonderful production, you will need to visit at any point between midnight on the night of the 26th and midnight on the 27th.  You will need to create an account on that page to see the production, but there is no cost.  We are hopeful that next year we will be able to return to a full musical production as we have done in the past.  Thank you to Mrs. Holmer for all of her work with our Wildcats on this production!

For Eighth Grade Parents (Updated & Final Posting)

An email was sent out to 8th grade families this week with details about the upcoming graduation ceremony.  If you do not recall seeing that email, most of the information shared in that email can be found on this document.  

Graduation gowns and ribbons for the ceremony will be available for pickup at Wood Oaks between 9 – 10 am on Saturday, May 22.  This is for all Wood Oaks 8th grade students.  At that time, we will also be issuing each family four tickets for the ceremony.  If you ordered a congratulatory yard sign from the PTA for your graduate, those signs will be available for pickup at this same event. When arriving at the school for this drive-thru event, please have your graduate’s name clearly displayed in the passenger side window so that the volunteers can quickly locate your items.  We look forward to providing families this one-stop shopping for all of these items.

In regards to graduation tickets, we will have a limited number of additional seats available for families who need another ticket to the ceremony.  If you are in need of a fifth ticket to graduation, please complete this Google Form ASAP. These extra individual tickets will be given out on a first come-first served basis until they are gone. All seating is general admission, so the fifth ticketed person will still be able to sit with the other four. If you do need an extra ticket, please fill out that form today.  You should use the same Google Form if someone in your party will need access to wheelchair accessible seating.  Given that the seating at the stadium is all bleacher seating, those in wheelchairs or who make use of a walker may need seats on the track at field level.  Please fill out the form linked above ASAP to let us know if your party will need access to that seating area.  There are a limited number of seats in this area, so please only submit this form if there is a member of your party in need of this accommodation.  If you need access to this seating area and require an extra ticket, you may take care of both requests with the same form entry.

6th and 7th Grade Families (Final Posting)

If your child is interested in taking electives in the fall, please fill out the forms linked below today. If a form is not received for your child, they will be scheduled into all study halls, other than advisory.  We build our elective schedule based on requests.  So, if we do not receive your request, there will most likely not be any space available for your child to take that elective.  Please take care of this today.

From our Technology Department – Chromebook Collection (Second Posting)

Each year, the technology department collects all District-issued Chromebooks, chargers, and bags to assess each device and prepare them for the next school year. Here's the schedule for when each grade level is expected to turn in their equipment:

For 8th grade students: On Thursday, May 27, the technology department will be collecting 8th grade Chromebooks during 10th period. They will not be needed on May 28. Please make sure to have your bag, charger, and Chromebook. Anything else that is in the bag can be removed. 

For 7th grade students: On Tuesday, June 1, the technology department will be collecting 7th grade Chromebooks at the end of 4th period. Please make sure to have your bag, charger, and Chromebook. Anything else that is in the bag can be removed.

For 6th grade students: On Tuesday, June 1, the technology department will be collecting 6th grade Chromebooks at the end of 10th period. Please make sure to have your bag, charger, and Chromebook. Anything else that is in the bag can be removed. In early October, some 6th grade families needed a secondary device to use for Zoom. If you have a secondary device along with the charger, please return that equipment on Tuesday, June 1. If you're currently not using the secondary device, you may return that computer to the technology office any time before June 1.
